Great Scenery, quality hotel, suit experienced continental riders.
Highest mileages 350 on outward and return journey.
After an early morning crossing with eurotunnel we will make our way to our first night’s stay in the Wurzburg region.
Following a good night’s rest we continue to our destination - a centrally located hotel near to the local rail and coach station. The roads and scenery really don’t come any better than this part of Berchestgadener land. You are free to explore on your own, join one of our optional rideouts to the Grossglockner, where we can lunch at the summit with ample opportunities for those holiday snaps. Salzburg, which attracts lots of visitors all year round is a twenty km bus ride away and really is best enjoyed this way rather than riding into a congested town. Alternatively try a short bus ride to Lake Konigsee and enjoy a ride on one of the electrically powered craft or, if you prefer, take the bus to the Eagle’s nest (Hitler's 50th birthday present) and marvel at the view and the sheer scale of the mountains. You really won’t have enough time to enjoy everything this part of Bavaria has to offer.
Note:
Mileage to our hotel from eurotunnel is approximately 690. We will use the motorway network to facilitate frequent comfort breaks and petrol stops for those of us with small tanks and limited range. It is worth remembering we have chosen this route as lots of French rural garages are not open at weekends and are therefore assured of fuel when we require it.
